About the Somerset County Historical Trust
The Somerset County Historical Trust
is a private, nonprofit, county-wide
organization dedicated to the identification, protection and
celebration of the County's heritage.
Hands on restoration projects, educational exhibits,
archaeological investigations, and surveys of historic resources are
samplings of the various activities sponsored by the Somerset trust.
As a County
advisory organization to the Maryland Historical Trust
(also the State Historic Preservation Office), the Somerset Trust
participates in various state and federal programs. your
county neighbors assist local groups in administering the state
grand funds for restorations, monitoring preservation activities in
the county and acting as liaison between the state and the county.

Since 1983, the
Somerset County Historical Trust has administered
over a half million dollars in grants, loans and matches for
preservation work and has assisted other nonprofit groups on the
Lower Eastern Shore. Organizations with whom the Trust has

Grants and Loans
While the Trust has administered over grants and loans at
Federal, State and County levels for historic preservation and
restoration, the Trust does NOT make grants or loans to
individuals.
Genealogy
While the trust supports the genealogical research in the County,
it does not provide genealogical resources. Those individuals
and organizations researching genealogy should consult the
Nabb Research
Center in Salisbury, MD. Library of Resource Materials
on Properties
The Somerset County Historical Trust does maintain a
comprehensive library that features information and resource
materials on properties throughout Somerset County. For more
