properties against encroachment and developments encroaching on
historic inventory. The Trust also nominates certain historic
properties in the county for inclusion in the National Registry for
Historic Places - most recent nomination being
Deal Island.
Working in Cooperation with the Maryland Historical Trust
As county advisory organization to the Maryland Historical Trust
(also the State Historic Preservation Office), the Somerset Trust
participates in various state and federal programs.
Your county neighbors assist local groups in administering state
grant funds for restorations, monitoring preservation activities in
the county and acting as liaison between the state and the county. |
